The range of work entitled ‘Elements’ is a new direction for Kate Schuricht, who has become widely known for her elegant raku and stoneware cylindrical vessels and bound containers.

‘Elements’ is a series of stoneware and raku fired jugs that are positioned in intimate groupings of three, some upright, some twisting or tilting, evoking a sense of conversation, movement and flow.

The contrast between the matt exterior of the ceramics and the glow from the gilded interior of the pieces adds a further dimension to her work. With a gilding palette that ranges from mercurial silver to white gold and matt gold, the new ceramics look like they have come from an Alchemist’s workshop.
